Could Your Child’s Sleep, Breathing & Growth Be Connected?
Mouth breathing. Restless sleep. Chronic congestion. Crowded teeth. Trouble focusing.
These may seem like separate concerns — but sometimes the bigger picture is worth looking at.
Join Dr. Leslie Pasco of MyoWay Centers for Kids for a relaxed, educational evening designed to help parents better understand how breathing, sleep, oral function, and jaw development can interact during a child’s important growth years.

Have You Noticed Any of These Signs?
Parents rarely say, “I think my child has an airway problem.” More often, they notice individual things that don’t initially seem connected.
Mouth Breathing
Breathing through the mouth instead of the nose, particularly during sleep or at rest.
Restless or Disrupted Sleep
Tossing, turning, waking frequently, or never seeming fully rested.
Chronic Congestion
Persistent stuffiness or difficulty comfortably breathing through the nose.
Teeth Grinding
Grinding or clenching during sleep.
Crowded Teeth or Jaw Development Concerns
Early crowding, a narrow palate, or questions about how the jaws and face are developing.
Difficulty Focusing
Trouble concentrating at school or seeming unusually distracted.
Daytime Fatigue
Waking tired or lacking energy even after a full night in bed.
Behavioral or Emotional Changes
Irritability, mood changes, or behaviors that seem worse when sleep is poor.
Bedwetting
Persistent nighttime bedwetting can be one of several signs worth discussing in the context of sleep.
One symptom by itself does not provide a diagnosis. But when several patterns occur together, it may be worth looking more closely at the way a child is breathing, sleeping, using their oral muscles, and developing.
What If These Aren’t Completely Separate Issues?
A child’s breathing, sleep, oral muscle function, and jaw development don’t occur independently. During childhood, these systems are developing at the same time.
That is why Dr. Leslie encourages parents to look at the broader picture — particularly during the years when growth is still occurring rapidly.
At MyoWay Centers for Kids, this is viewed through three connected areas:
Form
Jaw, facial, palate, and airway development.
Function
How the tongue, lips, cheeks, and other oral muscles function during breathing, swallowing, speech, and rest.
Fuel
Breathing efficiency, oxygen utilization, and quality of sleep.
The goal of the evening is not to diagnose your child from a checklist. It is to help you understand what signs may be worth paying attention to — and what questions you may want to ask next.
What You’ll Learn During the Evening
- 1
Why nasal breathing matters
Learn why healthy breathing patterns can play an important role in sleep and development.
- 2
Why childhood growth deserves attention early
Understand why ages 5-8 can be an important window for observing jaw, airway, and oral-function patterns.
- 3
How seemingly unrelated symptoms may fit together
Explore possible relationships among breathing, sleep, oral posture, jaw development, focus, and daytime function.
- 4
What "Form, Function & Fuel" means
Learn the framework Dr. Leslie uses to examine the whole picture rather than focusing on one isolated symptom.
- 5
When it may be worth taking a closer look
Leave with a better understanding of which signs parents can observe and what appropriate next steps may look like.

What MyoWay Centers for Kids Parents Are Saying
“We have truly been trying everything to relieve snoring, small palate, teeth crowding and mouth breathing for my son. He slept in his myobrace the first night and actually wants to wear it during the day. They both have been sleeping better.”
“Before therapy my daughter had tantrums, restless sleep, snoring, and even difficulty with pronouncing some letters. Since starting therapy she barely moves at night, is snore free, and a much happier child.”
“MyoWay has been a fantastic resource for helping my son with his mouth breathing issue. They are very knowledgeable and everyone has been so nice to work with.”
These are individual parent experiences shared publicly by MyoWay Centers for Kids families. Individual experiences vary and are not a promise of any particular result.
